michaelkors.com Mamduh Mahmud Salim is in custody for the 1998 embassy bombings in Africa and the man also may hold many of the tips for Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida network, reports CBS News Correspondent Mika Brzezinski."He was considered very close to Mr. bin Laden," said Charles Adler, Salim's former attorney.Salim has not tried in the attacks that claimed 224 lives. Four men were convicted last may. But Salim's court date was defer when prison officials say he attacked a guard, driving a sharpened comb deep in the guard's eye. Adler was there."To me this became a message or a signal or perhaps a statement perhaps that when you're kept in the inner sanctum of the enemy's dungeon this is why you respond. You put a stake of their eye," he said.Because he was a witness to the stabbing, Adler was removed Salim's case. Ten months later, on Sept. 11, visions of these jailhouse attack came back to him — multiplied from the thousands."That image came back in my opinion very powerfully when I saw too long thin airplane flying into that building," said Adler.Prosecutors express it was Salim who bin Laden turned to for justification of such attacks; Salim who interpreted the Koran to convey killing civilians was permitted within their holy war. "Salim spoke for the recruits and discussed together with the newcomers Islam, their duties as Muslims to combat the jihad and was regarded as a scholar as a individual who knew," said Adler. But prosecutors say Salim's role went way beyond theology. He ran companies for bin Laden linked to chemical warfare training and explosives. There's even evidence of a botched deal to get uranium. All of this information was on record before Sept. 11. Is it a signal of what was to come?"There was more to become learned, there was more to become afraid of and I think we rested on our laurels a bit too much," said Adler.Salim may hold loads of information about any other planned attacks. But those clues may stay forever with him, while he has made his commitment to al-Qaida violently clear.©MMI, CBS Worldwide Inc. All Rights Reserved

bottes ugg Being promoted to the FBI's Ten Most popular list has always been a big deal within law enforcement, but Monday's dual announcement was even bigger than most, reports CBS News Correspondent Jim Stewart. The FBI has put alleged terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden and anti-abortion activist James Charles Kopp on its Ten Most popular list.Bin Laden is a huge candidate for the list ever since investigators traced him towards the bombing of a U.S. military barracks in Saudi Arabia in 1996. He is also the man the FBI believes is responsible for last year's attack on two U.S. embassies in east Africa. FBI Director Louis Freeh says there's evidence bin Laden is plotting a lot more violence. "The FBI continues to obtain a high number of threats from individuals and organizations with ties to bin Laden," he admits that.Kopp's selection was particularly intriguing. After charges with gunning down Dr. Barnett Slepian at his home in Buffalo, N.Y. last fall, Kopp now joins Eric Rudolph because the second suspect on the list connected with anti-abortion violence. Freeh says his reputation travel before the shootings suggests with a investigators that he had help, "He doesn't have any known permanent address and contains traveled extensively around the U . s . and through 11 countries.
